The sea
Crystal-clear water, immense beaches of fine-grained sand, small deserted coves and rocky cliffs populated by sea eagles: this is Corsica with its diversity of marine landscapes unique in the Mediterranean. With over one thousand kilometers of coastline, it offers a never-ending series of fabulous places in which to sun, swim or fish. In the north-west, the beaches of Agriates are among the most unspoiled on the island. Further south, around Ile Rousse, the beaches of Balagne shimmer turquoise-blue against the multi-hued rocks on the sea bottom.
In the Gulf of Porto you will find both large and small beaches, still in their natural state, while at Calanques offers a dazzlingly beautiful landscape. Then, from Bonifacio to Porto Vecchio, delightful beaches extend for kilometers, interspersed with little coves. To the north, up to Solenzara, the coast of mother-of-pearl offers its meandering emerald green water-lapped sands.
Even at the height of the summer season it is not difficult to find a small, quiet cove and you will be amazed at how warm the water is—even in October the water temperature is 20°C. And its spell continues underwater with incredibly-colored floors.
Nature
Corsica, so lushly green, does not resemble what we typically think of as a Mediterranean island. Here we find the verdant chestnut forests of Castagnaccia, the rustling green of its vegetation, its cool summer pastures, the immense, centuries-old larches of Aitone, the bright emerald color of its mountain lakes, the green of the olive groves of Nebbio and the waterfalls and crystal-clear basins of the Restonica area.
With over 2000 species of plants, the colors of Corsica will dazzle you. Five natural reserves protect its unique flora and fauna.
